Best TOTO Neorest Model in 2026: What's Actually in Stock, and What the Same Toilet Costs in Japan

Nothing here is a hands-on review. Every number below comes from manufacturer spec pages and spec sheets, retailer catalogue data and published Japanese price listings that I pulled myself on 27 August 2026 and re-pulled in full on 5 and 10 September 2026. Where I couldn’t verify something, I say so.

Search for the best TOTO Neorest and you get comparison charts. Lots of them. What you don’t get is one written by anyone who isn’t trying to sell you the toilet.

The results for “Neorest comparison 2026” and “NX1 vs LS vs AS vs RS” are dominated by three retailer blogs — Premier Bidets, Clear Moon Bidets and Majestic Flush — each with its own “TOTO Neorest Comparison Chart 2026.” No independent review makes the top ten. That matters for a $4,000–$26,000 purchase that, at most US retailers, is non-returnable once it ships.

So I pulled the raw catalogues of four US specialists on one morning, set them next to TOTO’s own list prices and spec sheets, and got the Japanese prices for what looks like the same machine.

Four things fell out, none of them on the charts:

1. The same SKU sells for up to $2,519 apart across four US retailers on a single day.
2. The NEOREST AS and RS are built on the same bowl — TOTO’s own parts lists say so — and the $2,104 between them buys a different top unit, nothing else.
3. The NX2 costs $11,010 more than the NX1 at list, and TOTO’s published feature lists for the two differ by exactly one line.
4. The seat heater jumps from 50 W to 470 W between the AS and the LS — a real hardware difference, in TOTO’s spec sheets and on no chart I found.

Who This Guide Is NOT For

• If you want a bidet seat rather than a whole toilet. A Neorest replaces the entire fixture. If your bowl is fine and you only want the washing, heated seat and dryer, that’s a WASHLET seat at $492–$1,289 — my TOTO Washlet guide covers those. Nothing here costs less than $4,175.
• If you can’t accept a final-sale purchase. BidetKing’s refund policy is blunt: “Bidet toilet combination units, open box items, and gift cards are final sale — returns and exchanges are not accepted (manufacturer warranty applies in the event of damage or defect).” That’s the one policy I read end to end, so I won’t generalise about the others — but read yours before you pay.
• If there’s no GFCI outlet behind the toilet. Every model here runs on AC 120 V, 60 Hz at 1,283–1,290 W with a 3.9 ft (1.2 m) cord. No outlet in range means an electrician before delivery.
• If nobody will be home for a freight delivery. These ship freight, not parcel — the LS weighs 112 lb assembled, the AS 97 lb, the RS 95 lb. Per BidetKing’s policy, a refused delivery costs return shipping plus a 15% restocking fee, and freight damage must be reported within three calendar days.
• If you want a health verdict. TOTO describes EWATER+ as electrolysed water used to keep the wand and bowl clean. That’s TOTO’s description of the machine, not my claim about what it does for you.

What Actually Changed in the Lineup

The charts floating around still list the 700H, the AH and the RH. TOTO USA’s NEOREST collection page lists seven models and none of those three is among them: NX2, NX1, WX1, WX2, LS, AS, RS. In BidetKing’s 486-product catalogue, every old-naming Neorest is flagged out of stock:

Same generational turnover as on the seat side, where the C200, C5, K300, S500e and S550e gave way to the S2/S5/KS6/S7/S7A range.

The roundups get one thing backwards the other way: the NX2 exists and you can buy it. It isn’t in BidetKing’s catalogue, but Premier Bidets lists it at $26,279 and Majestic Flush at $17,081, both in stock — same for the wall-hung WX1 and WX2. Which retailer you pick decides which half of the range you can even see.

The Four Things That Actually Separate These Toilets

Read the feature lists side by side and almost everything is shared: all four in-stock floor models get dual flush at 1.0/0.8 GPF, TORNADO FLUSH, CEFIONTECT glaze, PREMIST, an auto open/close lid, auto flush with manual backup, instantaneous heating, a heated seat, a five-setting dryer, a deodoriser, night light, four-user memory, Universal Height and ADA compliance. Four things vary, and the fourth is only in the spec sheets.

1. How far the EWATER+ reaches, and how many spray modes. TOTO’s lists give the NX1, NX2, LS, AS, WX1 and WX2 “EWATER+ auto-cleans wand, bowl, and under-seat.” The RS list says “wand and bowl” — no under-seat. The RS also drops wide front washing, listing rear, soft and front only where the AS and LS add a fourth mode.

The dealer charts get this backwards: several claim under-seat EWATER+ separates the LS from everything below it. TOTO’s own AS page lists it too. The line falls between the RS and everything above it.

2. The remote. The NX1, NX2 and LS get what TOTO calls a “multifunction ergonomic stick-style remote control.” The RS gets a “pearl white block-style” one. A replacement AS/LS remote runs $549–$922 depending on retailer, against $199–$270 for the RS.

3. Trim and shell — most of what you’re paying for. Decorative trim with a matching remote finish is the only line on TOTO’s LS feature list the AS doesn’t also have. The AS has one the LS doesn’t: CLEAN LIFT, which hinges the top unit up for cleaning underneath. On the feature lists, the $1,224 step from AS to LS trades a cleaning feature for a finish.

4. Seat heater capacity — a tenfold split that’s in no chart. It’s in the spec sheet PDFs, not the feature lists. TOTO rates the seat heater at 50 W on the RS and AS, 470 W on the LS and 540 W on the NX1 — with the same seat surface temperature on all four, 82–97°F (28–36°C).

So the money above the AS isn’t buying only trim — it’s buying a heating element ten times the capacity at the same target temperature. What TOTO doesn’t publish is what that capacity delivers — no page claims faster warm-up, and I won’t invent a mechanism for them. But it’s TOTO’s own number, and it’s the one hardware split the charts leave out.

One warning: BidetKing’s NX1 listing says 50 W where TOTO’s NX1 spec sheet says 540 W. If a retailer figure looks like a typo, check the spec sheet.

One more the charts all miss: on TOTO USA’s own product pages, the AS and the RS list the identical bowl unit, CT8551CUMFG, and BidetKing’s component lists agree. Only the top units differ — SN8551M on the AS, SN8341M on the RS. Stepping up from RS to AS buys a different lid-and-washlet assembly on the same bowl, not better ceramic.

The Comparison Table

All US prices captured 27 August 2026 and re-checked 5 and 10 September — every figure below was identical on all three pulls. “List” is TOTO USA’s MSRP; “BidetKing” is that retailer’s price for the same SKU. Prices move; check before you pay.

Note on the LS: five finishes, not the three the feature list mentions — TOTO’s own page carries list prices for all five. More below.

BidetKing isn’t discounting off list — it’s publishing TOTO’s own floor. Alongside each list price, TOTO’s product pages carry a second figure labelled imap_price, an internet minimum advertised price. Those are, to the dollar, the prices you see: $11,452 on the NX1, $8,007 on the silver LS, $8,790 on nickel or black, $6,783 on the AS. No retailer arithmetic; the catalogue price is TOTO’s published iMAP.

The RS is the exception, and part of why it’s my pick. TOTO’s iMAP on the RS is $5,199 — exactly what two of the four retailers charge. BidetKing lists it at $4,679.10, a further 10% below TOTO’s own advertised floor.

Ignore any strikethrough “was” price. None of BidetKing’s Neorest entries carries one, which is a mercy: on the seat side of the same catalogue, three models with three different list prices all showed the same $780 “was” figure. Price against TOTO’s list column.

The Same SKU, Four Retailers, One Morning

This is the table the comparison charts will never publish, because each is a column in it. All figures from the four retailers’ own catalogues, re-pulled 10 September 2026:

Three of the four sit on identical numbers for four different SKUs, to the dollar — TOTO’s published iMAP figures exactly. They’re advertising at TOTO’s floor rather than competing on price. That says nothing about anyone’s dealer contract, and I won’t pretend it does.

I’ll say it plainly, since I’m the one with the affiliate link: BidetKing was not the cheapest listing on any of these models. Majestic Flush was lower on everything I could compare, in one case by $2,519.

Worth knowing before you act on that: Majestic Flush sits below TOTO’s iMAP on every SKU here — and so does BidetKing’s RS. Being under the advertised floor isn’t disqualifying, since the retailer I earn from does it on the model I recommend. But it’s the kind of pricing that can carry sourcing, lead-time or support differences a catalogue feed won’t show. “available: true” is a flag, not a promise, and I’ve placed no order with anyone. If you’re spending five figures, price all four on the day and read each one’s freight-damage and returns language.

The NX1 vs NX2 Question

This is the comparison people search for, and the answer is short. TOTO USA’s feature lists for the NX1 and NX2 are word-for-word identical, in the same order, except for one line that appears on the NX2 only:

ACTILIGHT® CLEAN LIGHT technology built into the lid

TOTO describes ACTILIGHT as technology that “harnesses its CLEAN LIGHT technology and innovative hydrophilic glaze to easily wash away waste, dirt, and grime on the toilet bowl’s surface.” At list it costs $11,010 — $15,269 for the NX1 against $26,279 for the NX2. The wall-hung pair repeats it: the WX2 adds ACTILIGHT to the WX1’s list and nothing else, for $11,428 more.

Whether that’s worth eleven thousand dollars I can’t tell you. TOTO isn’t publishing a second reason, and even at the sharpest end of the market — $17,081 against $8,932.56 at the same retailer — it’s about $8,148 for the lid.

The Models, One at a Time

NEOREST RS — $4,679.10 at BidetKing (list $6,932)

The entry point, and my pick for most people who want an integrated Neorest. The full shared feature set — flush system, CEFIONTECT, PREMIST, auto flush — on the same CT8551CUMFG bowl as the AS, at 1,290 W, the same power rating as the NX1. What it gives up: under-seat EWATER+, wide-front spray, the stick remote, CLEAN LIFT, and the high-capacity seat heater. Assembled weight 95 lb; floor-to-seat 17-11/16” (449 mm).

One inconsistency I couldn’t resolve: BidetKing’s RS description says “two user memory settings” where the feature list on the same page — and TOTO’s — says four. Trust the feature list, but confirm if it matters.

NEOREST AS — $6,783 (list $9,043)

The RS’s top unit swapped for a better one on the same bowl, for $2,104: under-seat EWATER+, wide front washing, the stick remote, and CLEAN LIFT. It keeps the RS’s 50 W seat heater. Assembled weight 97 lb; floor-to-seat 17-1/4” (439 mm).

A warning about the listing: BidetKing’s AS copy calls the remote “multifunction pearl white block-style” — that is the RS’s remote, not the AS’s stick-style one, as if RS text had been pasted in. Believe TOTO’s page; confirm at order.

NEOREST LS — $8,007 silver / $8,790 nickel or black (list $10,675 / $11,720)

The design model: larger and heavier at 112 lb, with a squarer shell and decorative trim matched to the remote finish.

Two things the charts miss. There are five finishes, not three: $10,675 silver, $11,720 nickel or black, and matte white or matte black at $13,878 list. TOTO’s feature bullet still says “silver, nickel, or black” while its own price data lists all five; Premier Bidets added the matte pair in March 2026 and Majestic Flush later in the year, and BidetKing stocks the three metallic ones only. And the LS is where the seat heater goes to 470 W from the AS’s 50 W — also not on the feature list, and the reason the $1,224 step isn’t purely cosmetic.

NEOREST NX1 — $11,452 (list $15,269)

The flagship you can actually get from a mainstream US specialist. The shell is the point: a one-piece elliptical form TOTO’s own copy compares to a thrown pot, with a soft blue mood light in the bowl. Warranty is the same three years residential / one year commercial as every other Neorest.

Two corrections to what you’ll read elsewhere, both from the spec sheet. Its power rating is 1,290 W — the same as the AS and the RS, not higher, whatever the retailer listings say. And its seat heater is rated 540 W, the highest of the four, against 50 W on the AS and RS.

Buy it for how it looks and that’s a sufficient reason; I won’t argue you out of it. Buy it expecting better washing than the AS and TOTO’s feature lists don’t support you — identical bar the trim line.

What the Same Machines Cost in Japan

Here’s the part I’m placed to write, living here.

TOTO Japan sells a Neorest line under the same LS / AS / RS names — unusual, since on the seat side the markets share nothing: Japan’s premium seats are the Apricot F-series, the US range the S-series. The names travelled; the model numbers didn’t, Japan’s CES-prefixed against the US MS-. I could not find any TOTO document mapping one to the other, so I am not going to tell you they are the same machine. Where the published specs converge and where they don’t:

Converging: TOTO Japan gives floor-drain flush volumes of 3.8 L full and 3.0 L reduced; TOTO USA’s 1.0 / 0.8 GPF for the LS, AS and RS renders on its own page as 3.8 / 3.0 LPF. Identical. The Japanese RS tier also drops the wide-bidet spray mode the LS and AS tiers keep, exactly as the US RS drops wide front washing.

Diverging: Japan has nine variants where the US has seven — LS2, LS1, AS2, AS1, RS3, RS2, RS1, plus wall-drain LS-W and AS-W. The US LS and AS feature lists, with their under-seat EWATER+, match the Japanese LS2 and AS2 rather than LS1/AS1. Those two also carry stool-scanning paired to a TOTO wellness app that appears on no US feature list, and the AS2 offers a room heater no US model does. Japan has no NX2 and no ACTILIGHT — the $11,010 technology doesn’t appear on TOTO Japan’s pages at all — and one NX, model CS902B.

Now the prices. kakaku.com is the standard price-comparison site here; below are its lowest listed shop prices for the floor-drain version of each model, 27 August 2026, re-taken 5 and 10 September. Only the AS1 moved more than a yen in fourteen days — up 1%. Japanese listed prices include 10% consumption tax; US prices exclude sales tax.

Rate: ¥153.27 to the dollar, ECB reference rate for 9 September 2026, via Frankfurter. The yen strengthened 3.6% since August, lifting this column about 4% on its own.

Tier for nearest tier, the multiple is brutal:

For scale: on WASHLET seats the transpacific gap is closer to 1.8×; on massage chairs, where I ran the same exercise on Japanese-brand hardware, it’s worse again.

Part of that is discounting culture, not the manufacturer: in Japan the AS2 and RS3 both sell at 52% of TOTO’s list, where the US AS sells at 75%, TOTO’s own iMAP. The rest is duty, freight, a much smaller installed base, and a channel that treats this as a luxury fixture, not a renovation staple. TOTO Japan also flags every Neorest as a two-week build-to-order item, specified through showrooms and quoted with installation.

Don’t Try to Import One

The $6,021 gap on an LS is going to make somebody open a freight calculator. Don’t. The reasons are in my Washlet seat guide, only worse on a whole toilet: Japan’s mains is 100 V against the US models’ 120 V at 1,283–1,290 W; the Japanese range splits floor-drain and wall-drain fixtures with different flush volumes (3.8/3.0 L versus 4.8/3.4 L) and different model numbers, none matching a US SKU; and you’d ship 95–112 lb of vitreous china across the Pacific to arrive with no US warranty and a three-day freight damage window already blown.

The Question the Charts Don’t Ask

Should you buy a Neorest at all? Here’s the comparison nobody selling them will show you, from the same catalogue pull:

The Drake WASHLET+ set at $1,715 pairs a new TOTO bowl with the S7A — EWATER+ on wand and bowl, four spray modes, five dryer settings, a two-year residential warranty, and the water connection hidden behind the seat. That’s $2,964 less than the cheapest Neorest.

What the premium buys, on the published specs: a one-piece skirted fixture with no tank and no visible seat seam, automatic flushing on standing, a third year of residential warranty, and the look. Those are real. Whether they’re worth $2,964 — or $9,737 for the NX1 — is a design decision, not a technical one; on the feature lists the washing doesn’t differ.

Picks by Situation

You want the sensible Neorest — NEOREST RS, $4,679.10. The full flush system, on the identical bowl as the model above it. Order MS8341CUMFG#01. Check current RS pricing and stock

You want under-seat EWATER+ and the better remote — NEOREST AS, $6,783. Worth the $2,104 if the fourth spray mode, the stick remote and CLEAN LIFT matter to you. It keeps the RS’s 50 W seat heater; the jump to 470 W happens at the LS. Verify at order — the retailer copy contradicts TOTO’s.

The bathroom is the point — NEOREST LS, $8,007 silver. You’re paying for the trim and the shell. Nickel and black are $783 more.

You want the object — NEOREST NX1, $11,452. A legitimate reason, as long as it’s the reason.

You were about to buy an NX2 — price the NX1 first. $11,010 more at list for one line of features.

You were about to buy a 700H, AH or RH because a chart said so — stop. All three are discontinued and out of stock everywhere I checked.

You’re in Japan reading this — ignore all of it. Search the CES model numbers on kakaku.com and buy an RS1 for about ¥190,600 or an LS2 for about ¥304,400, installed by a local contractor. US pricing is not your pricing.

The Bottom Line

The best TOTO Neorest for most buyers in 2026 is the NEOREST RS at $4,679.10 — same bowl as the AS, same flush system, the same 1,290 W rating as the NX1, and the only model in the range listed below TOTO’s published advertised floor.

What you give up is the $2,104 list of extras — a fourth spray mode, under-seat EWATER+, a nicer remote, CLEAN LIFT — plus a seat heater rated at a tenth of the LS’s. That last one is real hardware, and TOTO publishes the number without publishing what it buys you, so weigh it but don’t let anyone tell you they know.

The caveat is bigger than the pick: a Drake WASHLET+ set with the S7A is $1,715 and does the washing identically. If one-piece styling and auto-flush aren’t what you’re buying, the Neorest premium is a design purchase, and it’s fine to decide it isn’t yours.

Four things to carry away. Price the exact SKU at more than one retailer on the day — the same NX1 was $2,519 apart across four catalogues in one morning. Check the model is current; half the charts still rank the 700H. Confirm freight and returns before you pay: at most retailers this is final sale with a three-day damage window. And if the Japanese column made you reach for a shipping quote — 100 V, a different drain standard, no matching model number, no warranty either side of the Pacific.
